The Producer
Founded in 1954 by a group of 100 winegrowers, Adega de Cantanhede now has 500 active winegrowers and an annual production of 6 to 7 million kilograms of grapes, constituting itself as the main producer in the Bairrada Demarcated Region, representing around 40% of the region's global production. Today it certifies about 80% of its production, being an outstanding leader in the sales of Bairrada DOC and Beira Atlântico IGP wines.
Recognizing the enormous competitiveness existing in the national and international market, the qualitative evolution of its wines is the result of the most modern technology, with a focus on quality and food safety (Adega Certified by ISO 9001: 2015, and more recently by IFS Food 6.1. ), but also the promotion of Portuguese grape varieties, which has always guided its strategy, particularly of the traditional varieties of Bairrada - Baga, Bical and Maria Gomes - but also of other Portuguese grape varieties that find a Terroir of choice in Bairrada, such as Touriga Nacional, Aragonez and Arinto, as it believes in the unequivocal potential for differentiation and uniqueness that this heritage gives to its wines.
